Welcome to Down Memory Lane — a place for residents of our community to record life stories, reflections and precious memories. Whether it is a cherished childhood moment, a funny teenage memory, or a piece of wisdom earned over a lifetime — every story is worth telling. Although, there is a space for you to enter your name, you do not have to. You can choose to remain anonymous. There are no right or wrong words and no obligation to respond to every question. Share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. You can choose to keep your story private as a personal or family keepsake, or if you wish, you can consent to share -with your community- some or all of what you record. The choice is entirely yours.
Stories shared by your fellow residents — with their permission.
I grew up on a wheat farm outside Dalby, the youngest of five children. We did not have television until I was eleven, so we made our own entertainment — cubby houses in the paddock, swimming in the dam, and listening to the wireless on Saturday nights for the hit parade.
A nurse. I eventually became one — forty years at the Royal Brisbane and never a dull moment. Though I suspect the nursing uniform was part of the appeal when I was seven!
